The flat pendant is rendered in a pale blue to green jade with minor inclusions. Carved on both sides, the pendant portrays a phoenix with wide open and round eyes, a pronounced, thick, downward turned beak, and powerful legs and talons. Its crown is long, curled, and petaled upward, while its tail-feathers curl downward and in, creating a support point. Its body is decorated in a hook-shaped pattern. There are two suspension perforations: one at its elbow and another at the top of its crown. A pendant unearthed from the Guo State Tomb in Sanmenxia, Henan Province compares well to it.
