A comparable owl pendant was excavated at the tomb of Lady Fu Hao at Anyang and is currently with the Institute of Archeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The sculptural pendant is carved in the round. The decorative carving on its body is well weathered. Hook shaped patterns decorate its wings and back, while its chest is blank. Its ears are erect and the eyes, which have no pupils, gaze upwards. It appears the carver began to drill the suspension perforation from the top down, yet the hole ends about two centimeters in. There is, however, a perforation going east to west through the owl’s neck.
