This wonderful, well-defined circular disc is marked by four extrusions around its edges. A collar on either side rises from the interior perforation. Five wide grooves fill the width of the ornament. A significant amount of soil, and traces of cinnabar remain on its surface. Circular discs with grooves are a common type unearthed from ceremonial pits at both Sanxingdui and Jinsha in Guanghan. There is a comparable piece at the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art.
