Bulls in Shang Period carvings are typically depicted kneeling or lying down. This pendant, which is similar to one found in the tomb of Fu Hao and is currently with the Institute of Archeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, has a central suspension perforation that goes down through the middle of its back and out through its belly. His body is decorated with cloud decorations and simplified heavy ring patterns and his head is turned over shoulder looking backwards. Traces of dirt and cinnabar remain inside the perforation and under its neck.
