The handsome, well-defined circular disc is marked by three large hooks, and three sets of miniature dentils alternating with the hooks around the exterior. A collar on either side rises from the interior perforation. Three wide grooves flanked by circumscribing lines fill the width of the ornament. Circular discs with grooves are a common type unearthed from ceremonial pits at both Sanxingdui and Jinsha in Guanghan and there is a comparable piece at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art.
