The nephrite is mostly a deep hunter green with areas of calcification and traces of cinnabar remaining. The dragon is highly abstract and appears head to tail forming a circle. It has a curved eye and sharp talons. Its body is decorated in a series of hooks and loops to suggest its panlong type form. A similar piece was unearthed in Tomb #63 at the cemetery of the Marquis of Jin in Shanxi. Additionally, a comparable work is part the Seattle Art Museum's permanent collection.
